DESCRIPTION:Tactical Handgun I is the first of a series of three Tactical Handgun classes that address the essential skills required to use a handgun as an effective self-defense tool. Basic marksmanship ability and an understanding of the rule of law governing the use of force in self-defense are certainly a necessary part of this skill set. But for those seeking serious competence\, a much broader set of abilities is required. Each of the three Tactical Handgun classes builds on the skills and techniques taught and practiced in the preceding classes.  \nThe class will consist of about 2.5 hours of classroom time and 1.5 hours of live-fire range time. \nThe class requires 150 rounds of ammunition. \nCourse Goal: To begin the structured development of the fundamental skills required to comfortably and effectively carry and use a handgun for personal defense\, and to provide the student with techniques and exercises to develop and refine these skills. \nLessons \n\n Legal Framework of Defensive Handgun Use\nHandgun and Ammunition Selection and Options\nDrawing from your Carry Holster or Carry Purse\nBasic Defensive Live-Fire\nEssential Malfunction Clearing\nSpeed Reloading\nScanning and Simple Movement\n\nPrerequisites: Students taking Tactical Pistol I should have an understanding of simple marksmanship\, and the basic operation of their handgun. Individuals taking this class should have the personal handgun that they intend to use/carry for personal defense\, along with a suitable outside-the-waistband holster or carry purse with a dedicated department for firearms carry. Indy Arms Basic Defensive Handgun\, and/or USCCA Concealed Carry Handgun are acceptable prerequisites\, as are most classes from recognized shooting schools. Experienced shooters who have not taken any formal classes should contact Indy Arms to make arrangements to drop by for a brief skills checkout.
