DESCRIPTION:Basic Defensive Handgun is a practical classroom and hands-on class in the use of a handgun in self- defense. Jeff Cooper\, the legendary founder of Gunsite Academy\, is quoted as having said\, “Owning a handgun doesn’t make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician.” Although marksmanship skill is critical to the ability to use a handgun in self-defense\, marksmanship alone is not sufficient. \nThis class addresses the basic information\, skills\, and situations relating to the use of a handgun as a self-defense tool and is also taught as a Women-Only-Taught-by-a-Female-Instructor class. The class provides an overview of the legal\, psychological\, and law-enforcement response issues (These are also covered in greater depth a separate Indy Arms classroom courses; Essentials of Indiana Gun Law\, Practical and Legal Realities of Self-Defense\, and USCCA Concealed Carry) \nThis class focuses on the fundamental safety\, marksmanship and manipulation skills required to use a handgun effectively. (Carrying\, drawing\, and the associated equipment are covered in a separate Indy Arms hands-on course\, Tactical Handgun I\, II\, and III.) This course will consist of about 2 ½ hours of classroom and “dry” handling and drills\, and about 1 ½ hours of live-fire range time. The class is nominally four hours in length\, but may sometimes run a little run longer\, depending on attendance and the number of questions. \nThis class has been developed by experts on Indy Arms staff\, including nationally recognized authors and presenters\, and career firearms instructors and law-enforcement trainers. \nThe class will include the use of a rental gun at no additional cost. DESCRIPTION:This seminar explores the many concealed carry options and reviews the pros\, cons\, and uses of each. Basic firearms safety\, safely carrying\, and safely presenting a handgun\, when needed\, will be discussed within the framework of the various products available for concealed carry. The primary carry style holsters and their variants will be available for demonstration and testing utilizing inert dummy guns including inside the waistband (IWB)\, outside the waistband (OWB)\, and pocket carry. SUMMARY:Basic Defensive Rifle
DESCRIPTION:Basic Defensive Rifle\nBasic Defensive Rifle is an informational and hands-on class in the use of the modern semi-automatic rifle as a home defense weapon. The class is based on the most common self-defense rifles\, of which the AR15 platform is the overwhelmingly dominant example. The Ruger Mini-14 (based on the Garand platform) and the AK family of rifles (commonly but incorrectly referred to as the AK47) are also suitable for the class (if you are bringing a rifle other than an AR15 platform\, please inform Indy Arms when you register for the class). \nRifles are extremely effective home self-defense weapons\, and they have both advantages and limitations. These need to be understood and respected to use the rifle effectively and safely. \nRifle handling safety\, range safety\, and safe storage are addressed. We will go through the basic operating systems of these platforms\, and the most common malfunctions. We will practice basic handling\, operation\, loading and unloading with dummy ammunition in the classroom\, and proper mounting of the rifle and use of the sights. The course concludes with live-fire session on the range\, shot at various distances and speeds. And can be shot with both iron sights and with optics if those are available. It is important to have usable iron sights on the firearm. Optics can be finicky\, depend on batteries\, and can sometimes be difficult to dial in. \nThis course will consist of about 2 ½ hours of classroom material and practice\, and about 1 ½ hours of live-fire range time. The class is based on the most common self-defense shotguns (pump or semiautomatic) and students will need a shotgun with a magazine capacity of 4 or more shells\, functioning sights\, and a stock. \nAdvanced Defensive Shotgun includes lecture\, dry-fire and live-fire sessions and can be shot with both iron sights and with optics if those are available.  This course will consist of about 2 hours of classroom material and practice\, and about 2 hours of live-fire range time. DESCRIPTION:Indy Arms Company is proud to host Glock Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) Indoor League Matches!\n\n \nGSSF indoor leagues are designed to be accessible to the newest shooter (the free Glock given away each league is randomly awarded among all those that compete)\, but also challenging for experienced shooters (winning plaques to be awarded after all three dates are complete). \nNever shot competitively before? New to Shooting? You can track your progress from month to month and test and grow your basic skills (guns are shot at low ready\, no drawing from holsters). Experienced with handguns? DESCRIPTION:Third Tuesday of the Month (5-8pm)\n \nIndy Arms hosts Bowling Pin Matches every last Tuesday of the Month from 5-8pm (must be signed in by 7:30pm).  These matches are $15 for the first gun ($10 each additional) and are timed events.  Shooters sign up at the door and we will run all participants that sign up by 7:30pm. \n\nOctober 29th\, Tuesday 5-8pm\nNovember 26th\, Tuesday 5-8pm\nDecember 31st\, Tuesday 5-8pm\n\n\nRules\nDistance: 7 Yards (21 feet) \nPins:  Five full-sized bowling pins (4 pounds pre-shooting) \nTable: 4’ X 8’ with pins set at 1 foot back from the leading edge \nPin Set Up: The 5 pins will be set up at 15” intervals \nFormat: Matches are timed (start signal to shot clearing last pin or 30 seconds which ever happens first) and each string (5 pins in 30 seconds) will be scored by total time with 3 second penalties for uncleared pins.  If the shooter runs out of rounds before 30 seconds and with uncleared pins their score will be 30 seconds + 3 seconds for each uncleared pin. DESCRIPTION:Basic Defensive Handgun is a practical classroom and hands-on class in the use of a handgun in self- defense. Jeff Cooper\, the legendary founder of Gunsite Academy\, is quoted as having said\, “Owning a handgun doesn’t make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician.” Although marksmanship skill is critical to the ability to use a handgun in self-defense\, marksmanship alone is not sufficient. \nThis class addresses the basic information\, skills\, and situations relating to the use of a handgun as a self-defense tool and is also taught as a Women-Only-Taught-by-a-Female-Instructor class. The class provides an overview of the legal\, psychological\, and law-enforcement response issues (These are also covered in greater depth a separate Indy Arms classroom courses; Essentials of Indiana Gun Law\, Practical and Legal Realities of Self-Defense\, and USCCA Concealed Carry) \nThis class focuses on the fundamental safety\, marksmanship and manipulation skills required to use a handgun effectively. (Carrying\, drawing\, and the associated equipment are covered in a separate Indy Arms hands-on course\, Tactical Handgun I\, II\, and III.) This course will consist of about 2 ½ hours of classroom and “dry” handling and drills\, and about 1 ½ hours of live-fire range time. DESCRIPTION:Tactical Handgun 4\n\nTactical Handgun IV is the fourth in a series of four Tactical Handgun classes that address the essential skills required to use a handgun as an effective self-defense tool. Basic marksmanship ability and an understanding of the rule of law governing the use of force in self-defense are certainly a necessary part of this skill set. But for those seeking serious competence\, a much broader set of abilities is required. Each of the four Tactical Handgun classes builds on the skills and techniques taught and practiced in the preceding classes. \nTactical Handgun IV\, though an extension of Tactical Handgun I\, II\, and III is different\, in that it has been designed to be to taken multiple times. Though the course of fire in Tactical Handgun I\, II\, and III is the same each time the class is taken\, Tactical Handgun IV is designed to integrate various skills in challenging drills that will differ each time the class is taken. \nThe class will consist of about 15-30 minutes of classroom time and 3.5 hours of live-fire range time \nThe class requires 150-400 rounds of ammunition depending on the drills and skills focused on. \nCourse Goal \nTo continue the structured development of the fundamental skills required to comfortably and effectively carry and use a handgun for personal defense\, building on the techniques and exercises previously practiced in Tactical Handgun I\, II\, and III in order to develop and refine those skills and add additional skills to the student’s defensive ability. \nLessons \n\nContinued development of presentation skills\nAdvanced Defensive Fire\nIntegrative skills (combining multiple elements)\n\nPrerequisites: Students taking Tactical Handgun IV should have completed Indy Arms Tactical Handgun III. Individuals taking this class should have the personal handgun that they intend to use/carry for personal defense\, along with a suitable concealment holster or carry purse with a dedicated department for firearms carry. SUMMARY:Basic Defensive Handgun
DESCRIPTION:Basic Defensive Handgun is a practical classroom and hands-on class in the use of a handgun in self- defense. Jeff Cooper\, the legendary founder of Gunsite Academy\, is quoted as having said\, “Owning a handgun doesn’t make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician.” Although marksmanship skill is critical to the ability to use a handgun in self-defense\, marksmanship alone is not sufficient. \nThis class addresses the basic information\, skills\, and situations relating to the use of a handgun as a self-defense tool and is also taught as a Women-Only-Taught-by-a-Female-Instructor class. The class provides an overview of the legal\, psychological\, and law-enforcement response issues (These are also covered in greater depth a separate Indy Arms classroom courses; Essentials of Indiana Gun Law\, Practical and Legal Realities of Self-Defense\, and USCCA Concealed Carry) \nThis class focuses on the fundamental safety\, marksmanship and manipulation skills required to use a handgun effectively. (Carrying\, drawing\, and the associated equipment are covered in a separate Indy Arms hands-on course\, Tactical Handgun I\, II\, and III.) This course will consist of about 2 ½ hours of classroom and “dry” handling and drills\, and about 1 ½ hours of live-fire range time. The class is nominally four hours in length\, but may sometimes run a little run longer\, depending on attendance and the number of questions. \nThis class has been developed by experts on Indy Arms staff\, including nationally recognized authors and presenters\, and career firearms instructors and law-enforcement trainers. \nThe class will include the use of a rental gun at no additional cost. This course will provide a safe and enjoyable first exposure to long guns (rifles) and shooting. \nThis class is divided into two sessions. The classroom session\, lasting 60 to 75 minutes\, allows students to learn the fundamentals of rifle shooting including safety\, basic functions\, loading and unloading\, mounting\, stance\, sight picture\, and trigger control. During the live-fire session\, students will have the opportunity to handle\, load\, and fire one of our training AR-15s chambered in .22 caliber and will fire up to 50 rounds of ammunition in order to build skill and competence. The course concludes with a wrap-up session in the classroom to review lessons learned and answer any questions that students may have. \nThe class is offered one or two times a month and is the recommended first step before taking out Basic Defensive Rifle class.
