DESCRIPTION:USCCA Concealed Carry\n\nThe USCCA Concealed Carry class is a defensive handgun course for those who carry\, or are considering carrying\, a handgun for self-defense. \nThe United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) is one of the preeminent training organizations in the country providing Concealed Carry Handgun and Home Defense classes\, and a broad range of superb training publications\, videos\, and on-line programs.  The USCCA also provides a range of excellent self-defense firearm legal insurance programs.  Indy Arms is proud to currently have five USCCA-certified firearms instructors (and three USCCA Training Counselors) on our training staff (and all of those instructors are also certified by other major training organizations\, including the National Rifle Association\, Tactical Training Associates\, and the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy). \nUSCCA Concealed Carry is an informational and hands-on class in the carrying and use of a handgun in self-defense.  Jeff Cooper\, the legendary founder of Gunsite Academy\, is credited with saying\, “Owning a handgun doesn’t make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician.”  This class is meant to address that issue by providing some of the basic knowledge and skills that will contribute to your being effectively armed. \nThe class covers firearms handling safety\, range safety\, and personal safety.  We summarize the legal\, psychological\, and law-enforcement response issues involved in using a firearm for self-defense.  (And for those wanting more information\, these topics are covered in extreme detail in a separate Indy Arms classroom course\, Fundamentals of Armed Self-Defense.)  We practice basic handling\, operation\, and shooting skills with training guns\, “dry” in the classroom.  And the course concludes with live-fire session on the range allowing students to train with their own defensive handgun (rentals available) through a series of defensive drills. \nThis course will consist of about 4.5 hours of classroom material and practice\, and about 1.5 hours of live-fire range time but sometimes runs a bit longer\, based on student questions. \nThe class will include the use of a rental gun at no additional cost.  Students should bring 125 rounds of practice ammo for their gun of choice. \nCourse Goal \n“To allow the student to experience first-hand some of the skills and challenges inherent in the use of a firearm in self-defense\, and to provide information and basics that will allow the student to practice and improve those skills.” \nLessons \n\nDeveloping a Personal Protection Plan\nSelf-Defense Firearms Basics\nDefensive Shooting Fundamentals\nThe Legal Use of Force\nViolent Encounters and Their Aftermath\nGear and Gadgets\nSuggestions for Practicing Basic and Advanced Skills\n\nPrerequisites: None. SUMMARY:Bowling Pin Shooting
DESCRIPTION:Third Tuesday of the Month (5-8pm)\n \nIndy Arms hosts Bowling Pin Matches every last Tuesday of the Month from 5-8pm (must be signed in by 7:30pm).  These matches are $15 for the first gun ($10 each additional) and are timed events.  Shooters sign up at the door and we will run all participants that sign up by 7:30pm. \n\nOctober 29th\, Tuesday 5-8pm\nNovember 26th\, Tuesday 5-8pm\nDecember 31st\, Tuesday 5-8pm\n\n\nRules\nDistance: 7 Yards (21 feet) \nPins:  Five full-sized bowling pins (4 pounds pre-shooting) \nTable: 4’ X 8’ with pins set at 1 foot back from the leading edge \nPin Set Up: The 5 pins will be set up at 15” intervals \nFormat: Matches are timed (start signal to shot clearing last pin or 30 seconds which ever happens first) and each string (5 pins in 30 seconds) will be scored by total time with 3 second penalties for uncleared pins.  If the shooter runs out of rounds before 30 seconds and with uncleared pins their score will be 30 seconds + 3 seconds for each uncleared pin. Final score will be the best two runs of three.  Each shooter will run three strings and the best two will be combined for their score in seconds.  Low scores are better. \nUncleared Pins:  For ‘Heavy Metal’ center-fire (Revolvers\, Unlimited and Stock semi-automatics chambered in higher than 9mm or .38 special) a pin is not cleared until it is fully off the table.  For rim-fire\, stock semi-automatic\, unlimited\, and stock revolver (chambered in 9mm or .38 special or smaller) a pin is cleared if it is knocked over. \nMagazines:  Guns can be loaded up to 9 rounds and up to two additional magazines/speed loaders may be used (no more than 18 rounds may be shot during the 30 second run). \nAmmunition: High-velocity\, higher grain FMJ bullets are recommended (54 rounds maximum per gun\, 3 runs of 18 rounds) \nSafety and Course of Fire:  Range Safety Officer (RSO) commands are mandatory and failure to comply is grounds for immediate disqualification.  Commands include “Shooter to the line\,” “Range going hot\, eyes and ears\,” “Shooter load and make ready\,” “Standby\,” (gun should be off target\, pointed in a safe direction)\, “BEEP” (start your run)\, “BEEP” (stop shooting)\, “Shooter show clear\, gun down ammo out\, action open\,”  “Range is Clear.”  Reset pins for next run. \nCost: $15 for the first and $10 each additional entry \nDivisions: \n\nRim Fire: Unlimited\, any rim-fire (typically .22lr) pistol\nRevolver: Unlimited\, any center-fire revolver of .38 Special or smaller\nSemi-Automatic Stock:  Any center-fire semi-automatic handgun with open iron sights\, no extensive modifications to the frame\, no changes to the balance or weight\, no compensated barrels\, or trigger pulls under 3 pounds chambered in 9mm or smaller.\nSemi-Automatic Unlimited:  Any center-fire semi-automatic that does not fit the definition of stock chambered in 9mm or smaller.\nHeavy Metal: Unlimited\, any center-fire revolver or semi-automatic chambered in a round larger than 9mm or .28 special\n\nPrizes:  There will be swag packs\, Indy Arms Shooting Challenge Patches\, and free entry into one Indy Arms competition (GSSF\, House League\, IDPA\, or Bowling) for each of the four divisions per match. \nRocking the ‘Heavy Metal’ 10mm! The class provides an overview of the legal\, psychological\, and law-enforcement response issues (These are also covered in greater depth a separate Indy Arms classroom courses; Essentials of Indiana Gun Law\, Practical and Legal Realities of Self-Defense\, and USCCA Concealed Carry) \nThis class focuses on the fundamental safety\, marksmanship and manipulation skills required to use a handgun effectively. (Carrying\, drawing\, and the associated equipment are covered in a separate Indy Arms hands-on course\, Tactical Handgun I\, II\, and III.) This course will consist of about 2 ½ hours of classroom and “dry” handling and drills\, and about 1 ½ hours of live-fire range time. DESCRIPTION:Basic Defensive Shotgun\nBasic Defensive Shotgun is an informational and hands-on class in the use of the modern pump or semi-automatic shotgun as a home defense weapon. A shotgun is an extremely effective\, diverse\, and psychologically intimidating self-defense weapon. But there are many misconceptions about it\, and it is sometimes as intimidating to its users as it might be to an attacker. Shotgun operating systems tend to behave differently than most other firearms\, and need to be understood and practiced. And shotguns can fire an enormously broad range of ammunition types\, not all of which are suitable in some situations. \nShotgun handling safety\, range safety\, and safe storage are addressed. We will go through the basic operating systems (pump and semi-automatic) commonly used in self-defense shotguns. We will practice basic handling\, operation\, loading and unloading with dummy ammunition in the classroom\, and proper mounting of the shotgun. The course concludes with live-fire session on the range\, shot at various distances and speeds\, and with different types of shotgun ammunition. \nThis course will consist of about 2 ½ hours of classroom material and practice\, and about 1 ½ hours of live-fire range time.
