Tactical Handgun I

Tactical Handgun I is the first of a series of three Tactical Handgun classes that address the essential skills required to use a handgun as an effective self-defense tool.  Basic marksmanship ability and an understanding of the rule of law governing the use of force in self-defense are certainly a necessary part of this skill set. But for those seeking serious competence, a much broader set of abilities is required.  Each of the three Tactical Handgun classes builds on the skills and techniques taught and practiced in the preceding classes.

The class will consist of about 2 hours of classroom time and 2 hours of live-fire range time.

The class requires about 100 rounds of ammunition.

Course Goal

To begin the structured development of the fundamental skills required to comfortably and effectively carry and use a handgun for personal  defense, and to provide the student with techniques and exercises to develop and refine these skills.

2. Handgun and Ammunition Selection and Options
3. Drawing from the Outside-the-Waistband Holster or Carry Purse
4. Basic Defensive Live-Fire
5. Essential Malfunction Clearing

Prerequisites

Students taking Tactical Pistol I should have an understanding of simple marksmanship, and the basic operation of their handgun.  Individuals taking this class should have the personal handgun that they intend to use/carry for personal defense, along with a suitable outside-the-waistband holster or carry purse with a dedicated department for firearms carry.  Indy Arms Basic Defensive Handgun, and Indy Arms USCCA Concealed Carry Handgun are acceptable prerequisites, as are most classes from recognized shooting schools. Course Completion

Students will receive an Indy Arms Corporation certificate of attendance upon completion of the course.
