Weapons Retention

How to retain or disarm a firearm

Some of the more daunting questions firearms instructors frequently hear are, “What do I do if my attacker has a gun pointed at me? Is there any way I can respond if he has a gun pushed right in my face? How do I keep him from taking my gun from me if he attacks it?” This class will address some of those questions.

We will discuss and demonstrate the basic principles of handgun retention and disarming. We will learn and practice a handful of methods for accomplishing this. The techniques we use are relatively simple, easily learned, and not difficult to practice. This is a “hands on” training class, but very low impact, and all of the techniques are executed and completed while standing. (No mat work, takedowns, or strikes.) We will focus on just four basic techniques for handgun disarming or retention, along with the mindset necessary for effectively using these techniques in an extremely threatening situation.

This 4 hour class will address the effectiveness and limitations of techniques to retain your own, or disarm another’s firearm. There will be no live-fire in this class but will utilize practical demonstrations and hands-on practice with training guns.
