Handgun Optics

Handgun Optics concentrates on essential skills required to use a handgun with optical sights (commonly refer to as Red Dot sights) as an effective self-defense tool. This is the perfect class if you are wanting to fully understand your optics including techniques to ‘zero’ your optic, or are new to optics and want to make sure they are right for you.

Basic marksmanship ability, drawing and presenting to the optic, and additional issues present with optical sights will be discussed. This class will discuss the various optics options, pros and cons of the use of optics, and the challenges that need to be addressed to maximize the use of these modern electronic sights.

The class will consist of about 2.5 hours of classroom time and 1.5 hours of live-fire range time. The class requires 100 rounds of ammunition.

Course Goal To provide each student with the knowledge to make an informed choice of whether to use an optic or not.  Additionally, drills will be provided to further the student’s skills in optimizing an optics mounted handgun.
